Pioneering Carbon Trading Advancement
Client Overview
Our client is at the forefront of the global shift towards a net-zero economy and committed to driving climate action at scale, with their launch of a new carbon trading platform that will open the voluntary carbon market to the world and enable subscribers to transfer carbon credits securely and transparently.
The Challenge
Developed (and funded) by a group of financial institutions, the client embarked on developing a blockchain-based carbon trading platform in collaboration with an external software development firm. With the business concept validated, the primary challenge was to design and build a “production grade” Azure-based container platform capable of meeting a set of exacting security, regulatory compliance, and reporting benchmarks required by prominent banks. The decision to partner with BlakYaks stemmed from our deep expertise in container technologies, automation, and enterprise-level Azure expertise.
The Solution
BlakYaks collaborated closely with the client's management and technology teams (architecture, information security) and external software development partner. Due to accelerated timelines our team completed a rapid discovery phase, before leveraging BlakYaks reference AKS architectures (incorporating - DevSecOps, CICD pipelines and proven CNCF technologies) to design and build the new platform. Concurrently, in tandem with the client’s software partner, we migrated the entire application stack onto the new Azure infrastructure, completing a comprehensive battery of tests, attesting to the platform's readiness for go-live.
Outcomes
The collaboration with BlakYaks has delivered a unique solution setting new security and performance standards. Managed entirely with code, using a modular IaC framework, the platform has been developed to accommodate the evolving demands of new banking clients as they join the platform, adapting to specific security features and controls aligned with their respective jurisdictional policies, regulations, and standards.
