This statement has been published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act.

The International Labour Organisation estimated that by 2016, there were 40 million people in modern slavery and 152 million in child labour around the world. BlakYaks Limited will take all possible and practical steps to combat and prevent slavery and human trafficking within any line of the business of the company.

While BlakYaks are a small business with a relatively small supply chain, we aim to behave and act with integrity and ethically in all our business dealings and we will remain committed to ensuring that no modern slavery or human trafficking is taking place in our supply chains. As a business we aim to respect and protect the human rights of anyone we have business dealings with including those within the BlakYaks business including our staff, job candidates, customers and any associated suppliers, and hold ourselves accountable and responsible to act morally across our whole business. The attitude is underpinned by strong foundational core values and embedded in a culture supported by our leaders.

Its important to us that our employees and anyone representing BlakYaks maintains high standards and adheres to our values and policies and that helps ensure we stay compliant with the laws (including the Modern Slavery Act).

Risk Assessment for Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

As the company matures and grows in size we will look to continuously develop and improve internal systems and processes to:

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains and mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains.

  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains and act accordingly if we perceive risks.

  • Ensure that our own staff or our suppliers staff are welcome to come forward and report any concerns that they become aware of.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes BlakYaks slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2021.
